Choosing between a resort and a private villa is one of the first decisions in planning a holiday, and neither is simply "better".
Choose a resort when…
You want choice on your doorstep. Resorts typically bring several restaurants, a spa, activities and sometimes children's clubs — useful when different people in your group want different things, or when you simply do not want to organise anything.
Choose a villa when…
Privacy and space matter. A villa usually means your own pool and terrace, flexible mealtimes and room for a group to spread out. It is a favourite for celebrations, multi-generational trips and honeymoons.
Questions to ask yourself
- How many people are travelling, and how old are they?
- Do you want to be looked after, or to be left alone?
- Will you spend most days at the property, or out exploring?
- Is there an occasion to celebrate?
A middle path
Some trips work best with both — a few nights in a villa for privacy, followed by a resort stay for activity. If you are unsure, tell us about your trip and we can shortlist options that suit.
